I’m still playing around with different cloud rendering services before I dive into fully animating my sock monkey Twilight Zones. What’s the point in spending the time to animate if the calculated render time on my laptop is 37 years?
Google purchased a pretty nice cloud rendering patch from a small production studio and renamed it Zync. So far I’m pretty happy with it. It also comes with $300 in free renders. I’ve rendered nearly 1000 frames so far and I still have $250 left.
Here, we have my sock monkey over about 90 frames through a camera pan with floating balls of lights and render man subsurface shaders. When I get xGen up and running with Maya 2016 (serious bugs) my monkey will get the layer of fuzziness that he so desperately needs.
